RE: Third division of music
Kevin Kruse, drawn back in the spotlight, opined re. Barry White:
>Do I think he's a musical legend? Sure. But remember, I'm also half of
>the team that inflicted the 'XYC listeners with the "Trailer Park Music"
>shows.
So yes, your cred is established :-)
>Hell, I think Merle Haggard's a genius, much in the same way as
>Barry White. Each takes their respective genre (seductive soul and silent-
>majority country) and elevates it to the Nth level. If you appreciate
>them for what they do in comparison to every one else in their field,
>then the judgment's obvious: they do what they try to do perfectly.
And promptly revoked. Good god! Merle & Barry mentioned in the same
breath, I feel faint, I'm having palpitations. To each his own, but I find
the analogy has a fatal flaw. Merle is infinitely more seductive than
Barry. And soulful, for that matter. Indeed, Merle is on my short list of
"music to woo by".
Unfortunately my husband prefers Robyn Hitchcock. What can ya do.
Anyway, glad to hear from you again, Kevin :-)
