i know ditto posts are bad form, but...

ditto.

um, as long as we don't propose that all music with melody is readily
associatively sappy, or need be, or that readily associatively sappy is
necessarily bad form, even.

i think a lot of people just have problems with melody, in any definition,
period.

xdu is all jungle music, alla time. viva pomeade.

well, i can hum jungle, so in my definition, it has melody.

rhythm and texture have melody to me. i hum 'em alla time.

mr. merides even has melody to me. i hope that effect doesn't subvert your
intent.

This anecdote is a perfect example of the Triangle area radio scene
microcosm. Some of the other food groups are left out, but in general the
sense of hostility and agrivation is exactly right...

everything is faux. everything is artifice. everything is art. there is nothing
but 'bad' art. there are no perfect works of art. art is judged on artificially
constructed scales, which is a meta-art form, just as faux, in and of itself.

your rush is my kiss,
