Moving to Atlanta -- where to go/what to do?

Hi all --

I'm moving to Atlanta in about ten days and wanted to know if any of the
losers on the local scene had anything to suggest in regard to things to
do there. I've lived in the Triangle for five years now and have always
liked the fact that 1) the quality/variety of local bands is always great,
and 2) I could always see "important" bands (at least in the indie rock
pantheon, e.g. Yo La Tengo) at the Cradle for $5 with no stupid
Ticketmaster charges.

Go ahead and say it -- Chapel Hill is unlike anywhere in the world and I
should just go ahead and get my ass down to the city that the Confederate
army tried to prevent and forget about punk/indie rock (both of which are
appealing in the fact that they could "happen" anywhere, but for some
reason seem to "happen" more in certain places than others).

On a personal note, to anyone I might have touched, my last day at the N&O
is tomorrow (Wednesday -- my email address should work for another month).
My new job is webmaster at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution
(http://www.ajc.com/). Look for unmitigated, extremely self-conscious
"cool" there in a couple of months.

Cheers,
