yes but the Consumer is itself a product of the western capitalist mindset.
it is possible to emphasize other aspects of life than material
consumption, such that mere appeals to consumption will appear to be
shallow. sex sells cars because people accept (consciously or
unconsciously) the connection.

your many gross over-generalizations (such as this latest that puts "mom
and pop" in the exact same boat as corporations) are why I called you the
"intellectual lap-dog of Wall Street". This sort of postmodern leveling of
all distinctions not only betrays your cynicism, but allows (bluntly) evil
to pervade, with no moral commentary credible, because some wanker is
always saying "everything is the same". This only serves to dismantle the
opposition and aids the status quo.
