The proof is in the pudding.  I'm much less concerned about the status of
someone in regards to ownership of the means of production than I am the
product of that process.  If the music is made without pressure to conform
to any appreciable standards of "marketability" then the music released by
a band on a major label is likely to be easily the match for music made to
fit a commercial fad but released on a true "indie".

I'd like to propose a reconstruction of this breaking up thing: what about
if you just stop playing together... then if after 6 months (or 6 years) 
the urge to play out comes up then you can just do it.  Cuts down on the
hassle of overcoming the absurdity of "reunion" gigs.

And Ross, stop going to last shows would ya?  I think it might be you and
not them.
