spatula, guv'ner, catpower

So how did Tuesdays Spatula performance compair to past
performances. I ask, because the last time I saw them it was at the June
CD release party, and thus I had to fight to hear them over the
obnoxiously loud din of the audience's collective conversations. I know
it was June's show, but i found the level of the chat unusually annoying
that night. Anyway, so this is the first time I've been able to listen to
them since then, and I really enjoyed it. SO, I guess I'm curious as to
if that was an average/great/bad show for them, to know for next time.
What did you peeps think about Guv'ner. I was unimpressed. Okay,
and occaisonally funny ( "i'm so vain, this song is about me..") but
nothing to get excited about.
I thouroughly enjoyed Cat Power, but what was up with the abrupt
finish. I think it had something to do with the sound guy, from the way
he seemed to get a little upset about the whole deal, but if anyone knows
any details, I'm curious.

Just because I never got around to saying so, and I guess some
people would expect me too, and for good reason, Richard Thompson's show
was amazing (10/11/96 - cradle.) Bo and I did eat dinner that night
(Pizzeria III - two large cheese pizzas, I added a lot of garlic powder, I
don't know about him...there were five of us there, together.) "Tear
Stained Letter" has always been a decent song as far as my liking of it
went, but after hearing live, and singing along with it, it has moved
quite a few spaces up in my enjoyment heirarchy. Same with "Mascara
Tears." Anyway, best show I've been too. Danny Thompson's bass playing
sounded great on the bass heavy cradle mix. Pete Zorn is a cook. I've
never seen someone so into singing backup in such a ...british looking
way. My friend says "gay" way, but i argue that it's almost the same.
Mattocks, tight, and worked really well. Thompson's humor was in full
force :) Anyway, if anyone recorded the show, please let me kow, i would
love to have it for posterity and what not.

rji, needs to get to bed earlier.
