Indymedia and Open Publishing
-
Founded during the Seattle 1999 WTO protests, the Indymedia
Network soon spread across the world - now nearly a hundred sites, spreading
from China to Bolivia.
-
Its success is due to open-publishing, the fact that anyone
can and will publish. There is a moderation news policy. This allows news
to hit the wire often faster and more reliabily than corporate news, about
subjects and by people that won't otherwise have their voice heard.
-
During the last few summits, such as the G8 at Genoa and Geneva,
the Indymedia Centre was attacked.
-
We know have a Independent Media Centre in Scotland
