    Chief of Naval Operations change of command ceremonies

    Admiral James L. Holloway, III, USN,

    Meets with the Navy's principal Commanders in Chief, in his Pentagon office in late July 1974, a month after he became CNO. A wide range of issues were discussed during two days of consultations, including fleet operations and training, personnel, and ship and weapon systems development programs. "Knowing the vast experience and responsibility these officers represent," Admiral Holloway remarked, "I considered it essential that I have their views as I analyze the status of the Navy today and begin charting our course for the future."
    The others present are (from left to right):

    Admiral Maurice E. Weisner, CinC, Pacific Fleet;
    Admiral Ralph W. Cousins, CinC, Atlantic Fleet; and

    Congratulates Master Chief Operations Specialist Robert Walker upon his selection as the next Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. Taken in Washington, D.C., 25 June 1975.
    "Master Chief Walker, 46, is a 27-year Navy veteran from Baldwin, New York, and is currently serving as Master Chief Petty Officer of the Atlantic Fleet Naval Air Force. He will relieve Master Chief John D. Whittet in September" (quoted from the original 1975 photo caption).
