Laid down at Federal Shipbuilding & Drydock Company, Newark, N.J., and commissioned 30 December 1944, Lt.(jg) Leopoldo P. DeMarco, USNR, in command.

LSM-287 did not participate in any operations during World War II.

LSM-287 was decommissioned on 2 May 1946 and sold the General Motors Cleveland Diesel Engine Division in Cleveland, Ohio on 4 March 1947.
