ARD -- Floating Dry Docks:

Since 1942, numerous Floating Dry Docks have joned the pioneer 2,482-ton ARD-1 of 1934. Able to lift DDs and smaller vessels, the ARD-1 is 393'6" overall. Similar concrete ARDCs and dozens of newer ARDs are in service. The larger ABDs can handle cruisers and small carriers. In various combinations, the multiple-unit ABSDs can take anything up to a CVB or Iowa.. The AFDs service mine-sweepers, tugs and similar vessels. Some Docks are self-propelled, others must be towed.
