BT doesn't just affect butterfly and moth larvae, contrary to Urban
Legend.... There's also a strain that has been grown specifically for
some of the Dipteran pests, which are bugging the daylights (?) out
of those of us who are in areas with much standing water this spring.

It's Bacillus thuringensis var. israeliensis, serotype H-14.
Hits blackflies and mosquitoes, including the genera Aedes, Anopheles,
Culex, Culiseta, Psorophorum and Simulium. Sources at hand (1989
pesticide directory) show it sold as Teknar, Bactimos granules and
wettable powder, Skeetal, Mosquito Attack and Mosquito Attack Rings, among
other trade names.
