Some brief notes on listserv and teaching~~

The UNC Honor Code will be followed through out this course.~~

Project:
The class projects will meet the following standards to receive a C, be excellent example of at least 3 of them to be awarded a B, and go imaginatively beyond them to receive an A.

  1. Local content and presentation - Material of substance and of valuable content should be made easily accessible and navigable by wise and appropriate use of technology.
  2. Using Internet resources - Projects should link to and appropriately acknowledge other information resources on the Internet that relate to the project.
  3. Creating and developing interactivity - Projects should use forms of interactivity such as Mail-in forms, scripts, hypermail , IRC, listserv, etc. to help create and foster an interactive community of readers/listeners/viewers
  4. Publicizing your publication/cybercast - Projects should be appropriately advertised (no SPAMMING) to existing Internet interest groups including net-happenings, what's new and subject related news and mailing lists. Additionally projects should seek the attention of traditional media as is appropriate. Creating an event, special conference, using new technology or using existing technology in a new way will help you in this last effort.
  5. Keeping it legal (not optional) - Projects must comply as much as possible with existing laws regarding copyright, broadcast rights, trademark, etc. If you are probing a legal gray area, include links that refer to the laws involved. See the Multimedia Law Handbook
  6. Journalistic and/or Scholarly publications (optional) - For graduate students especially, it would be wise to write an article for publication concerning your experiences and insights and problems in creating your publication/cybercast.
