Graduate Student Association School of Journalism and Mass Communication University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill |
Notes from November 2002 GPSF MeetingA resolution calling on Chapel Hill Town Council for greater student inclusion in decision-making concerning land use (housing) passed unanimously. So did a resolution honoring the memory of UNC alum Sen. Paul Wellstone. It will be sent to Wellstone's sons. Appropriations for four projects and events were passed, includin a juicy one for the Law School's planned First Amendment Law Review (journal) and Symposium scheduled for March on the Zellman Harris case (vouchers for private schooling). There is one finance committee and one senate meeting left this semester. If you have a project, event, or publication that might qualify for GPSF funding, please let me know so we can begin the funding request process. Previous funding went to N-MEDIA-C, our new online journal started up by Jon Lillie. Social events for grad students also are eligible. The infamous TPAC parking committee has reorganized as ACT and is again looking at night parking. If you have opinions on this or otherwise want to get involved in the lobbying effort, contact Colin Christ with the GPSF at cchrist@email.unc.edu. Also, the Graduate School is looking at the grading system we use (H-P-L) and considering going to a more orthodox A-B-C-D system. Look for more on this, including invitations for input. This discussion is in the early stages. Thanks, |
