Parking on Campus on Football Game DaysJOMCers: Below is a copy of a note sent to Grad Student Senators. It applies to all of us who need parking spaces on football game days. I was told last year by security that the process applies not just to students who are working (as for money) but also those who have important projects/studies underway and need to be on campus. Key is to plan ahead and get help from the good folks in our JOMC office. FYI, newbies, there is NO free parking on campus on football game days, and very little available off campus even if you want to pay. The best rule is to either go to the game (via bus) or, more likely, study at home. -- Glenn Scott Here is memo from Parking Office: I am writing to make sure you are aware of the restrictions that will be in place for this season's home football games and ask if you will help us get word out to your constituents. I also want to make sure you and other graduate students know that you can obtain "employee special event" permits if you are working on game days. The "employee event" permit allows access to several lots that normal students cannot access. These permits may be obtained by contacting your department parking coordinator and having them contact Scott Berrier who is the events coordinator for our department. In the medical school area, the designated employee lot is the Dogwood Deck. In the north campus area, the Swain and Peabody lots are available to employees only. [And they never fill up -- gs] I appreciate any help you can give us in disseminating the proper parking information for home football games. If you have questions or if I can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to contact me. Deborah L. Hawkins |
