Clarisse, the eldest cat daughter at Chez Lafrombu, presented her regal presence at the door of Lafrombu in May, many years ago. It was hailing outside and at the time, yours truly Lafrombu was living in what might be nicely described as the "Narcotics District" of town. Late that cold night there was the sound of someone literally throwing themselves repeatedly at the front door. And so, since no one was visible in the peephole nor would respond to my threats, I finally yanked open the door armed with baseball bat, hairspray, and other mechanisms by which to disarm the intruder -- which turned out to be this dripping wet cat.
Clarisse, who was named Alex at the time, belonged to my neighbor who later became ill, and that's when she came to live with me and Rainbow. She was named "Alex" due to her air of superiority, which reminded her former owners of Alexis Carrington on Dynasty. She was named "Clarisse" because she bears a striking resemblance to Rudolph's girlfriend Clarisse in the holiday animation "Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer".
What can I say about my daughter Clarisse? Well, she is a young lady of high standards and VERY refined taste. She loves tea parties and when others are having tea, she wants a cup of catnip tea and a cookie for herself, and will settle for nothing less. She can be the sweetest cat around, but she also can be the most cranky -- hence many jokes that go around my family about the "Clarisse School of Public Relations".
As you film fans may recall, in "When Harry Met Sally...", Sally asks Harry: "Am I high maintenance or low maintenance?" and Harry replies, "You're the worst kind...you're high maintenance, but you think you are low maintenance." Well, let's just say that Clarisse is high maintenance, she knows it, and is proud of it. She definitely makes life interesting at Chez Lafrombu, and for that reason, she is very much loved.
