"VIRginia International Raceway" Poster

I created this poster for the VIRginia International Raceway 2001 poster competition. To create the poster, I scanned in and inventoried approximately 200 photographs of British racecars taken by students for this project. I decided on this car because I felt it looked best with the VIR logo AND -- because maybe it's just me, but I think the headlights and grate on the front of this car make it look a bit like a grinning (with braces) rebellious teenager! Since the theme for the poster contest was "The British Invasion", I wanted the poster to personify the car as trendy and rebellious. To complement the look, I created a custom gradient in Photoshop, and used it in quarters to create the tie-dyed British flag upon which the car is superimposed.

The text on the poster was created using multiple rasterized layers, with effects to create a crinkled look. Additional Photoshop layers were used to impose the tie-dyed British flag and car, over a separate custom gradient I created using the British flag colors.
