Participating teachers in NCTAN will benefit from working with guest speaker, performers and teachers who are alumni of previous NCTAN seminars. Teachers are expected to use the internet to access lesson outlines, information sources and specially posted teaching materials. Teachers will be paid $500--$300 upon completing the required 30 contact hours and submitting an implementation plan. The remaining $200 will be paid after completing the May 2002 follow-up session. Teachers will receive up to $200 worth of selected seminar materials which will be utilized during the sessions. Each teacher will also select an additional $300 of East Asia educational materials to support instruction on East Asia in their school and classroom. A NCTAN Seminar graduation certificate will be awarded upon completion of the requirements and teachers have the option of applying for renewal credits. |

Educational Travel Tour to East Asia The Seminar organizers in conjunction with the NC Center for International Understanding are finalizing plans for the study tour which is supported by a grant from the Freeman Foundation. Our current plan is to have NCTAN alumni, who have completed all the seminar requirements, apply for participation in a three-week study tour to East Asia in late June of 2002. The participants may have to pay a non-refundable registration fee and participate in an orientation workshop. All other trip associated costs (transportation, lodging, food and event tickets) will be paid for by NCTAN. We reserve the right to change this offer and will present a more concrete outline. Congratulations to 18 NCTAN teachers chosen for the East Asia Study Tour. For complete information click on "Teacher Educational Travel". |
