The major themes to be covered  in the seminar are the geographical determinants shaping the culture, history and economic development of East Asia; the nature of East Asian society, politics, and culture; interactions among East Asian  societies; and East Asian history in the context of world history. China Japan and Korea are the primary focus of the seminar, Asia in general will also be discussed.

Comparative music, dance and literature in East Asia. Explaining significant social  ceremonies. Afternoon Session: East Asia and a changing world order: The 20th Century.
