Students receive materials on the Bosnian conflict.

First morning session, 10:15 -- 11:35, to a combined audience of 160 students and two afternoon session to a combined audience of 215 students.

Director of Outreach Programs at UCIS, will provide an introduction of presenters and topics, lead the slide show discussion and videotape the event.

Dr. Laura Janda

Director of the Slavic, East European and Eurasian Center at UNC-CH speaking on Balkan culture, languages and beliefs while focusing on the differences and similarities between Moslems, Serbs and Croats.


Dr. Nicolae Harsanyi, Administrative Manager at the Center for Slavic, Esat European and Eurasian Studies presented on the history of the region and what conditions drove people into open and very hostile conflict. Also spoke on the Peacekeeping Mission in Bosnia,
