SANGAM http://www.unc.edu/student/orgs/sangam/ will perform two dances from India. 10:10 - 10:25. UNC-CH VIETNAMESE STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (VSA) Contact Person is MARK NGUYEN (914-4446) mailto:mnguyen@email.unc.edu. Dance team will perform a traditional fan/hand dance to a very beautiful song entitled "Ve Day Em" ("Come Back To Me"). The dancers are: CHI DANG, MONGTHUONG TRAN, LUANN TANG and LISA VO. Phillips students will also provide a traditional dance from India.

Authentic Voice Panel: Diverse Asian speakers will discuss their ethnicity for 15 minutes each.

Phillips teacher Jyoti Duwadi from Nepal will be joined by: Ruyoko Kubota, mailto:rkubota@email.unc.edu Assistant Professor UNC School of Education will talk about her experience as a Japanese woman in America. Guang Guo, mailto:gguo@gibbs.oit.unc.edu UNC Sociology, (962-1246) will talk about his Chinese background. Shantanu Phukan, mailto:phukan@email.unc.edu UNC-CH Hindi-Urdu language lecturer (962-6825) will talk about his Indian background.

Lunch: Catered Asian Buffet. Freshly made sushi from Glen Harris Teeter. A full complement of ethnic dishes from The India Palace and the mother of all cooking, Charlie's Chinese, for those of us who can't get enough of quality Chinese food. As a special guest chef, a Korean student attending Phillips will make some traditional Korean dishes in the cafeteria with his families help.

1- Art: Room 104, the Science Room

Ackland Art museum: Ray Williams, mailto:maxray@email.unc.edu Curator of Education at the Ackland Art Museum will talk about teaching resources on world religions, focusing on Asia. Beth Shaw, mailto:bas5705@email.unc.edu Museum Educator, Ackland Art Museum (962-0479). She will demonstrate to the Phillips faculty how they can integrate museum and art activities into the classroom.

2- Math/Science: Room 101

Dan Teague, mailto:teague@odie.ncssm.edu (919-286-3366 ext. 301). Math teacher at NC School of Sciences and Mathematics will provide a talk on mathematics in Japan during both workshops. Hoon Hong, mailto:hong@math.ncsu.edu Associate Professor in Mathematics at NCSU, originally from South Korea, has lived in Austria for seven years and observed his three children receiving math education in Austria and the United States. He will provide a comparative view of math education during both sessions.

Afroz Taj, mailto:taj@server.sasw.ncsu.edu and John Caldwell from the Triangle South Asia Consortium http://www2.ncsu.edu/tsac/ will discuss South Asian literature, with a special emphasis on poetry and its music. Both Sessions

Dan Duffy, mailto:dduffy@isis.unc.edu UNC Anthropology Dept. Mr. Duffy will speak about Southeast Asian literature. His focus will primarily be on Vietnam. Second session only. 2:30 - 3:30

4- Physical Education-Self Defense: In the Gym

Jay Dunbar (968-3936) Tai Chi instructor at UNC-CH is having Almanzo Almonreux, a master teacher in Tai Chi provide instruction during both sessions.

Jo-Ann Spector, mailto:spectors@mindspring.com Hatha House Yoga 5216 Old Chapel Hill Rd, Durham 27707 (489-0516) will provide a session on Yoga from 1:15 - 2:15 pm.

Jun Wong will talk about Tai Chi and provide a number of introductory movements that teachers can participate in during both sessions.
