Numerical Solution

A numerical solution is used to solve equations for dynamic systems. As we have already said, the equations describing the dynamic behavior of most of the physically interesting systems do not possess exact solutions. The only way to study those systems is the numerical solution of the equations. There are many ways to perform numerical analysis for dynamic systems. Below we have a block diagram sketched in Matlab/SIMULINK©. If you analyze the sketch carefully, you can see that the dynamic equations are programmed in a visual format.

To find the numerical solution from Matlab/SIMULINK©, the user should set the initial conditions and the integration step time for the spring-pendulum system. Then the analysis software simulates the dynamics at every time step and connects them together as an approximate solution. The graphical tools are used to plot this solution after the simulation.
