[nafex] Strange Weather
I am sitting on the side of a mountain at elev 1640 in New Hampshire
trying to figure out what to do. I would like to make maple syrup but
the snow is stacked around the trees so the sap won't flow even with
cold nights and warm days (25/45 degrees).
And I can't do much for my apple trees because most still have 4 feet
of snow around them; the one advantage: my snowshoes are 4 feet
higher for pruning. But can't put on dormant oil on the lower 4
feet, nor borer spray. Nor can I tell what kind of animal damage
there is to the trunks.
I envy those of you talking of crocus/crocii and real signs of spring.
But I did have a gigantic wild tom turkey strut thru the yard this
morning, very pretty. Biggest turkey I have ever seen; but I guess he
has to be to survive the coyotes.
