Re: [nafex] tip bearing apple varieties?

   Tip Bearing.
I had taken notice of the couple apple trees that I didn't take down.
One has a scattered blossoms sparse look. It is my favorite apple.
"Cortland" The other is a Multitree. It is loaded with blossoms. It at one
time had 76 Varieties on it. But I had cut it way back. It finally makes
sense to me why I never had to thin that tree of apples. And weather good
year or dry year Cortland always has big apples. There is a method to its
blossoming I would say. Maybe here is the reason I also go for Paula Red
after I can't get Cortland. Around Michigan Cortland is on of the biggest
selling apples that is sold out the quickest.

You can add Paula Red to that list of tip bearers. It's growth habit is so
willowy I call it the 'Tree form Hell' when it comes to pruning. I now am
trying summer pruning to try to control it a bit. There is another golden
apple whose habit is almost identical with PR. I'll look it up and add it
later.
