[nafex] After Graft - Apple ?
Hello All,
I am a novice grafter, this year being my first season to do
a bark graft. Last season it was cleft grafts, this season
bark and splice grafts. I am seeing some unusual growth in
a bark graft, and would like to know if it is common.
The rootstock is a volunteer apple, with a trunk diameter of
1/2", the scion is about 1/2 to 3/4's of a standard pencil
in diameter.
What is unusual is the new growth from the scion terminal
bud, it has come out and is as thick as a standard pencil.
It looks rather odd with new growth with a larger diameter
than the scion.
Is this the usual case? I have not noticed it in any of my
other bark grafts.
Thanks for any experience you can share.
Regards,
Tom
