Re: [nafex] rooting of grape cuttings horizontally
Joe
I did not know that a tornado took 2 of your barns and trees and threw
them at the house. Did you loose a lot of trees etc?

Hi Bert:
I rooted a few cuttings that were stuck at a very shallow angle. They
rooted well. It was not a controlled experiment.
I think there is a trade-off. The closer the basal end is to the
surface, the sooner it warms up and more vigorous the rooting. The
downside is the top layers of soil dry more quickly. Plastic mulch
probably helps both aspects.
Those rascals *were* easy to dig.
Best regards, Joe

I fish because I love to;
because I love the environs where trout are found,
which are invariably beautiful
... because trout do not lie or cheat
and cannot be bought or bribed
or impressed by power,
but respond only to
quietude
and humility
and endless patience...
