Jan & Joy were supposedly bred for late fruiting to confuse the birds.

I have 6 Joy/Jan/Joel cherries from 2 to 4 years old and have not noticed
much difference in size and sweetness between them (do bear early some
their second year) except Joy the most vigorous almost too much for her own
good. They are indistinguishable from the sour cherries I have -what is
wierd is there late ripening season. My nanking cherries are smaller and
sweeter.
