Regs to Raise Compost Costs

The California Integrated Waste Management Board is
considering regulations that CCOF estimates will increase
the price of compost by $2-$3/ton. That's as much as 15%
in some areas. These regulations will do nothing to prevent
adverse environmental effects of uncomposted manure or yardwaste.
The proposed regulations are a clear attempt by large
waste-haulers to undermine competition from established
agricultural composters.

The last day for public comment is tomorrow, February 14.
Please let the Waste Board know what you think about
regulations that discourage the making and use of compost.
