Perhaps others can answer this.  I was sold two of them to heat a larger 
brewer but they were not big enough for the tank Iwas using.

I have used them for a week now while a larger heater is on order.  I 
immersed them completely and they have survived OK so far.  I think that 
they are plastic/glass is a good thing.  I saw on a message a while back 
that copper is to be avoided as it is toxic for the bacteria.
