Small scale practitioners with limited resources and a small client list could use a backpack sprayer, I suppose.
I've used a Wilson and seen a Solo backpack sprayer used for tea, we switched over to a small tractor towed 25 gallon sprayer a couple of years ago, little Agri-Fab thing---sprayer works fine, the tires are cheap and stupid, though, needing inner tubes.
As others have mentioned, backpack sprayers are heavy and not always well padded, if you are a hoss (sturdy backpacker sort) this won't be too much of a problem.
Key is keeping tea fresh and delivering it quickly where it is needed. Some of the aquarium pumps for 12 volt could be useful if you have a day's worth of spraying and need to keep a barrel of tea aerated in the truck between jobs.

If you are performing tea on a commercial basis, I cant imagine using a back pack sprayer it is going to cut into your hourly return per a man. I would purchase a small 50-100 gallon tank with a small diaphram pump.
You will be able to get more volume better coverage increase your rate per a man hour plus look much more professional to the client.
I would hang myself if I had to go around with a backpack sprayer, it just takes to long to do the full job.
