Re: [compost_tea] Fruit Club Update

Hi Judi,
Great updates.  Could you give us the exact recipe you're using and how often are the members applying CT?  Your posts are a testament to CT's viability in organic agriculture.  Thanks

Subject: [compost_tea] Fruit Club Update

Today was compost tea day. The timing couldn?t have been better.

We?ve been going through a severe draught.  Lucky for us it rained last night

and this afternoon, right after everyone soil drenched.

Lou was back for 30 more gallons.  He?s astounded at the length of time his dahlias are

blooming and he hasn?t had to deadhead them.

Carell used compost tea for the first time in August and came back for more.  She

was about to cut her roses, but applied compost tea as a test and was shocked

that they all grew buds and bloomed again, and continue to bloom.  Her apple trees are doing well.

Emmy and Will take 10 gallons from every batch.  Their apple trees are loaded

with fruit this year.  One tree filled 25 boxes. Emmy brought me some of her apple butter.

Ralph says his apples are clean and he has no scab whatsoever.

Heidi used compost tea on her wild plums and made wonderful jam.

Sheila and neighbors Jay and Irene increased their order to 50 gallons. Every entry of Irene?s took

a ribbon in the county fair.

Dan and Kathy took 20 gallons to apply to their orchard.  They have

their own five gallon brewer, but will try the club?s compost tea

because our recipe is different.  We used T & L Enterprises? yucca today for the first time,

carefully measuring some into each filled container.

Lyle has a KIS and a Bitti brewer but also wanted to try our recipe.

He?s is a life member of the fruit club and thinks compost tea is

better than sliced bread.  Lyle brought me an assortment of his homemade jams.

I can?t wait to try his famous gooseberry. Lyle is 87.

Some members drove over an hour to be here by 8 am on Sunday morning,

pick up their tea, turn around, and rush home to put it down as soon as possible.
