Hello Matt,
I'm short on time but if you want to actually tell if your bacteria are of =
a certain species, this takes much more detailed testing methods, as outlin=
ed by Mark in the other current discussion. You can however evaluate whethe=
r you 'likely' have bacteria which are of benefit by observing a balance of=
microbial types in your brew and by using your nose to sniff for anaerobic=
bacteria (foul smells).
Here are some resources which may help;

under the microscope. I have come up with different components to achieve=
bacterial tea vs. fungal tea, but when it comes to the bacterial brews,I d=
on't know what I am seeing. Am I seeing beneficial's or harmful bacteria? =
I am getting amazing results in terms of microbe counts.
