Molasses is an excellent food source for both bacteria and fungi. I know T=
im
uses it when making samples and I do as well.

I must disagree.

I took a professional mushroom cultivation seminar with Paul Stamets up in=

Olympia, Washington where I grew up.

One method of spore propagation is called a "spore slurry mass" where you t=
ake
mushrooms, put them into a bucket of clean water, a bit of sea salt to prev=
ent
bacteria yet not enough to hurt the spores, and also as immediate food sour=
ce
"molasses".

The spores meet in the solution and create actual microscopic yet fully
functioning mushrooms. It takes two spores to make a mushroom. They meet in=
 the
solution and feed on the molasses, growing before even hitting the ground.

I'm sure there is some truth to your statement, I don't claim to know all b=
ut I
do know these facts above.
