Greg:
LAN or limestone ammonium nitrate (LAN) is one of the softest chemical
fertilisers with regards to damage. It has one of the lowest salt indices.
Another low one is superphosphate however it only supplies phosphate.
For a balanced and microbe friendly product you can try any of the compost
based pellets such as Nutrog Rapidraser or equivalent chicken litter based
pellets. The pellets are not as concentrated as chemical fertilisers, but
very safe for micro-organisms. You can also use organic type products such
as bonemeel if your phosphates are low, for example.

Subject: [compost_tea] synthetic fertilizer and soil microbes
Hi,
My question is similar to the one asked about Roundup. Does anyone have any
info in regards to the affect that Ammonium Nitrate has on soil life? Also
are there any synthetic fertilizers i.e.(10-10-10) that can be used in turf
and nursery industry etc. that will not have an adverse affect on the
microbes.
Thanks,
Greg
