Tim,

Great questions....

what is the point of the 24 hour brewing period any way ? I assume that t=
his time period is an outcome of Elaine's research.

why not just stir up some compost in water and apply if dormant microbes ar=
e just what is needed ? Research does support this approach if these are t=
he goals.

In regard to humic acid application, I have not seen any negative issues ap=
plying a low concentration of humic acid along with a diluted dormant extra=
ct of vermicompost.

I would agree with you, I have seen some ill effects, from the addition of =
high concentrations of humic acids, to an active fermentation, as part of a=
n experiment. Under normal circumstances, you would never on purpose be ad=
ding such a high level of humic acids to the soil.

pecially if one is adding a sufficient ratio of humic acid prior to applica=
tion to kill or chase those microbes back into dormancy. Check it with a sc=
ope. Tad & I did. Of course I did not check your specific ratio but based o=
n what I've seen I would never add humic acid, nor kelp nor fish hydrolysat=
e to a liquid with active microbes. I would only add a small amount at the =
beginning of a brew.
