You killed them off. Too much/too little food, not enough oxygen, change in=
temperature or acidity all could account for the drop in population.

I have been experimenting with a long brew time to increase protozoa, after=
72 hours the flagellates were booming, so thought I had better add some mo=
re food for the bacteria- added 1 oz of molasses and 1 oz of fish hydrolysa=
te to the 2 gallons of the 72 hour brewing tea. Now after 96 hours- no flag=
ellates- can't see a one..... any ideas what happened?
