[compost_tea] Timing for watering with more than one liquid

It finally rained!! I was able to water using just rain water this morning=
, and I have some rain water left over. I'll run outside and put more Mosq=
uito Bits into my rain barrels. I want to get the maximum benefit from my =
rain water, but I don't have enough, and I need to also use some city water=
. This question also applies to when I pour my leftover compost tea on the=
 soil.

I have concrete yards, front and back, and garden in pots.

I usually save some of the rain water for a few days, and water my edibles =
first with rain water, then afterward add some more water to each pot from =
the hose.

-- Should I water first with rain water, so the soil absorbs that first, an=
d then add the tap water, so the excess tap water runs off?

-- Of should I water first with tap water, and expect the rain water to dis=
place the tap water, so the soil ends up absorbing mostly rain water?

So, my question is, what is retained by the soil, the first liquid it encou=
nters, or the last? If I add my leftover compost tea to the soil, should I=
water the plants first with city water, or add the tea to the soil before =
I water?

I usually water a lot, until the water starts to run out of the pots, so th=
at the arid heat doesn't dry out and kill my potted plants before I water a=
gain the next morning.

Thanks

Sue
