I was tempted to post this with Chris' initial post. It's an old subject
here which Stephen provided a great segway to. Laval wood, or ramial chipped
wood has remarkable soil regeneration properties. There is a wealth of
material, a good deal generated from research at Laval Univ, in Quebec.
Google "laval ramial chipped wood."
