I agree that "nutrients are better addressed by looking at the growing
media, either potting soil mixes or the feild soil." as
stated in Tad Hussey's post.

Except for in an incidental way (and if so, very minor in scope), I
have never considered ACT as being a fertilizer.

Rather, I have done it for the express purpose of inoculating the soil
with microbes. Microbes populations give many
benefits to the soil (better soil aggregation, preventing some
minerals from leaching, making exudes that are valuable to
plants, better access to some minerals actually present),but if the
minerals are not in the soil, or in the soil at levels adequate to
growing needs; then you need to add them, this being true whether you
apply ACT or not.

If in anyway I am off base on this POV, please post same.
