Lawn clippings are an outstanding source of green in the compost pile. How=
ever, you have to watch them. If you leave them, even in a wheelbarrow for=
a few hours, it can get hot and anaerobic quickly. Layer it in small laye=
rs in your pile, with larger layers for the brown. It will heat up well, w=
hich is pretty much required for creating huge numbers of microbiology. Fo=
r most people, it will be the most easily accessible large source of green =
at one time. It's what I normally use. It's hard to get enough other gree=
n at one time for most home composters.
