Weird, my initial post didn't get through… definitely user error, a=
pologies. What I'd like to ask (if I can magage):

I've heard that the mycorrhizal fungi available for purchase is harvested f=
rom Sudanese switchgrass. Is this accurate?

I have also heard that growing Sudanese switchgrasses can innoculate soil w=
ith the beneficial organisms. If this is true, what is an optimal technique=
? Would a winter crop suffice or would the fungi be asleep by the time I pl=
anted a summer crop? I am in the area of Cloverdale, north California, just=
 south of the 38th parallel.

I ask mainly because I would love to grow purchased seeds for innoculation =
rather than purchase the innoculants. Any vendor information for seeds woul=
d be appreciated. I have otherwise been purchasing the fungi from the good =
folks at Vital Earth.

Furthermore, what is the shelf life of mycorrhizae? I usually purchase the =
powder for innoculating roots when transplanting or making seed beds. Somet=
imes I have used granular innoculants in tea (note: am a reader of Dr. Ingh=
ams Compost Tea Brewing Manual and apply the fungi to the tea shortly befor=
e applying tea to the roots.)

Lastly, how does one wake up the sleeping fungi?

Best,
Patrick
