I have had the Storch design posted on my webpage for years in the event pe=
ople wish to use it. In my experience and measurements applied by oxygen me=
ters and microscopy, I estimate that the only advantage to a vortex is that=
it thoroughly mixes all the ingredients placed into the water and it provi=
des a slightly increased surface area for surface gas exchange. That is whe=
re the 'magic' ends. I have observed no microbial difference whatsoever bet=
ween brewers I've built employing a vortex and brewers using an airlift.
Many of you know that I produce a 50 gallon patented airlift brewer. It wou=
ld have been produced with a cone bottom tank and would/could therefore pro=
duce a vortex but I wanted to save the consumer money by allowing them to u=
se a regular 50 gallon barrel.
There is no need to construct a vortex brewer using the design which has be=
en posted when building a much simpler design with only one airlift will pr=
oduce EXACTLY the same vortex and EXACTLY the same levels of dissolved oxyg=
en. Once again; the only advantage to a vortex (in my learned opinion but y=
ou never know, anyone can be wrong about anything) is that everything is th=
oroughly mixed and there is no chance of dead zones.
Here you can find a design for a much simpler vortex brewer if that is what=
you want;

This is on my webpage. You will find all kinds of freely given information =
on the page for building your own brewer. There are photos posted in the ph=
otos section of this compost tea forum displaying the various brewers built=
by my students following this design. I challenge anyone to illustrate tha=
t four return pipes creates a vortex which is any different (visually).
We are working at present to try to complete a 10 gallon cone bottom tank (=
vortex) brewer based on my patent to be ready for shipping in May. We have =
a protype up and running and are ironing out the wrinkles. Whether it gets =
in production depends on its affordability to the consumer, like all the th=
ings I make.
Thank you Tad for that great myth busting site!!!
I agree with Tad everything which he stated regarding biodynamic farming. I=
t is good biologic based farming practice just like nature farming practice=
d in many parts of the world.
