Hello Bill
Foliar spraying with any nutritional mix can do stuff like
this. My guess is you triggered a nitrate nitrogen kick hence the spurt of
growth and bitter fruit. Energetically compost (and therefore CT we'd
assume) is a growth enhancer. Its been one of my concerns for some time that
many of the users and promoters of Compost Tea have paid scant if any
attention to the foliar nutrition side of tea use, the focus has been almost
entirely on the microbial bit. There is a lot of nutritional energy in three
heavy applications of a good tea brew. Switching plants between growth and
fruiting mode by manipulating nutritional energetics is classic Carey
Reams - you can read about this in any or all of the books by Arden
Andersen, Phil Wheeler, Dan Skow, available from acres USA.

As soon after as you can get it out there!
