Hi Tom
What else is out of whack? Have you got calcium at good
levels - 65% CEC or better on a Perry labs test, 75% on a Brookside .
In
our area there are a couple of patches where Boron has leached down the
profile and accumulated in heavy clay layers - its very mobile and
easily
leached - . I'd ignore the boron and work on calcium, carbon, aeration,
drainage, other trace minerals, and getting the critters moving again.
Whats
the cause behind the cause? . Dont use any chicken manure (or any other
boron sources) till you figure this all out. Put a basic BD prep program
into place (barrel compost, BD500, BD501). Any excess is always a much
more
difficult problem to fix than a deficiency thats why I always advocate
smaller quantities. You have to get the soil system to sequester the
excess
(lock it up out of the way) and / or balance it out. In doing this its
possible to induce a temporary lack of boron in the plant that could
even
benefit from foliar applied boron at very low dose. Hugh Lovel may be
able
to help with specific use of the preps to give immediate relief but the
basic stuff still needs to be done.
Keep in touch
Cheers
