OK Elaine -- So there's a little microscope coming along and I have to ask
about the rest of the home-farm-nursery-landscaper simple, real time test
kit. The quest for an inexpensive real time test of compost tea is about a
year old now, and you have been promising something for several months.
Where's the beef? What's the news?
What does this test set look like? Short of perfection, what can we do this
coming season to make better teas? Watching DO seems a baseline measure,
what else?
As for CT standards, there is one that's been touched on recently that seems
central to making good tea but which is sublimated by various technology
suppliers who don't provide appropriate data, especially the aquarium pump
bunch. What is an appropriate rate of air pumped into what volume of water
in making tea?
Oxygen is key to good tea, clearly. I don't think aquarium pumps can do the
best job. Seems to me at least .1 cfm per 10 gallons of water is a possibly
good rate. Maybe we need to push on air pump suppliers for more info?
Certainly we need to get a grasp on this ourselves, seems to me. Ya?
Happy New Year to all! May aerated compost teas grow goodly. I believe
they will.
