Re: [compost_tea] C-T smell and Bears
Hi John I guess you don't fence bears out easily. Once some years back we had unruley cattle that did not respect our fences. We converted to electric fences. One small wire was all it took. Question- would it just make the bears mad so they would tear up the place? We didn't have a bear problem.
TEA - How about using Jeffs HA plus his favorite oat meal, alfalfa meal add both to your compost some days before using the compost. Let Jeff tell about it. Also there is malt?? Bears like that? - Maybe. Yucca. Kelp smells of fish so maybe not. Molasses- Bears would love that. But like the other message said - if it is fully brewed there shuld be little if any of those nutrients left. Would a bear smell traces? Probably. For starts do you want mostly bacteria? Maybe you don't need to be exotic to get lots of bacteria.
The electric fence might hold the bears away. Racoons? You might find a mesh fence you can electrify to go around a small area. Racoons used to eat our sweet corn about when I wanted to pick it, I doused the silk wifh finely gound black pepper. We enjoyed the corn after that. I'll bet you have thought of all those ideas and more. Bob. .

liquid fish, Ill have more trouble with Raccoons, and bears.
I'd like to use the CT on all of my plants this year. A Raccoon or big old
bear could do some serious damage to flats of small plants.
I live in Northern, WI. (Beautiful up there !! Near Superior? Bob )
Any thoughts?
