The differences between what people think, and what actually happens.

Run your tea through some pipes. Pipes with no bends, pipes with 45 degree C
curves and pipes with a few 90 degree turns.

Check the pipes after a few tea brews. Bio-film and stinky smelly in the 90
degree turn pipes, a little film in the 45 degrees, and none to speak of in
the straight.

Mechanism? I don't care really, but some of the organsms go splat on the
walls of the 90 pipes. Impacts will happen. You may hypothesize that
laminar flow will happen, but like race cars going around a track, some will
eventually go splat.
