Tom is preciaely correct. When someone tries to patent compost tea, for
example, that's bio-piracy, because people have made compost tea in various
forms, both aerobic and anaerobic, for thousands of years.

Patenting a specific design of a machine is different. Change the parts by
30% or more, and someone else can build a similar, but not the same, machine.
 It doesn't mean everyone making tea has to pay you money, just anyone trying
to sell your particular machine, or your particular design.
