Re: RES: [compost_tea] Don't use MOLD and a RANT
The fungi can be damaged by pumps, so you need to test to see if a pump will
slice and dice all the fungi up. Most tea machine makers have checked that,
although a couple have not. That's why you want to ask the people who make
machines, or their reps who sell them, for DATA documenting the tea that
their machine produces.
If they can show you that their machine routinely produces tea with good
bacteria, fungi and protozoa, then you can rest assured that you can do the
same thing.
But if they do not have data to show you, or if they use plate counts to try
to convince you that their machine makes tea, just walk away. They are
trying to pull a fast one on you. Trust the data, not salepeople promises.
Filtering tea can remove the orgnaisms if the filter is too small opening
size in the filter, or if the filter gets clogged. That's why it is better
to keep the compost in a bag and not have it free in the brewer. When you
filter the big chunks out, the fungi go with the big chunks.
OK? Make sense?
