You can put compost tea to sleep. But in doing so, you lose perhaps 50% of
the species of bacteria (not 50% of the individuals, but 50% of the species).
 

So, fresh made tea gives you benefits you cannot get from put-to-sleep tea.

But a put-to-sleep tea is much better than an inoculum containing just a few
species of bacteria.

And a few bacterial species, especially very beneficial ones, is much better
than not having those species in your soil at all.

It's all relative.
