Thank you Steven for mentioning liquid manure. It reminds me I said I'd
report back on what I found out about manure and the NOP. Turns out manure,
composted or vermicomposted per the 4/18/02 NOSB compost task force report
is approved for all uses, anytime, including compost tea. NOT per the
ridiculous "raw manure" rules NOP likes to recall (a reguile, I have to say)
and has cast onto CT.
So make sure your manures are well composted and you're home free. This is
per NOP itself and three state certifiers. And Doc E, I might add. Not to
mention
Nature, hmm?
As for manure use, I suggest don't use any manure that smells bad or that
worms won't go into, and definitely not raw manure, per nopyoyododoheads.
Let
it dry in the sun or be composted first.
Has anyone seen any "USDA Organic" processed manure materials yet? They're
going to be in soil mixes or bagged manure probably as they can't be used in
"fertilizers" per the regs, thankfully. There is a way to thwart them in
the Act, I
believe. If you're into manure let me know what else you think.
